Apple coral is a type of sponge coral typically imported from Taiwan and Indonesia. It is stabilized, and dyed red using an aniline dye and heat treatment.
Aniline dye yields a higher quality bead than cheaper food dyes (which can bleed onto clothing). It is a permanent, stable coloring, and will not rub off.
