Shedding the Past, Renewing the Future: Navigating the Year of the Snake 2025

A Transformative Encounter with Snakes

I've always been fascinated by how snakes show up in different cultures as symbols of wisdom and renewal. There's something incredibly powerful about an animal that literally sheds its old skin to emerge renewed. It's a little bit yucky to leave it behind and not clean up after yourself (LOL!) but couldn't we all use a little of that transformative energy sometimes!

A Transformative Encounter

This fascination led to one of my most memorable experiences about a decade ago at an animal preserve, where I was offered the chance to hold a Burmese python. Was I scared? Absolutely! But how often do you get to wear a python as a necklace? The experience was unforgettable – the surprising weight that made my legs buckle, the smooth, dry scales, and the pure muscle beneath them. Holding this magnificent creature only deepened my appreciation for why snakes have captivated artists and jewelry makers for millennia and shown up so many times in visuals over the years!

Ancient Wisdom Meets Spiritual Energy

From Egyptian cobras guarding royalty to Greek healing serpents, snakes have been revered across civilizations. But one of the most profound connections comes from yoga traditions, where the Kundalini energy is visualized as a powerful serpent coiled at the base of the spine. As this energy awakens and rises through each chakra, it brings transformation and expanded consciousness – much like how a snake sheds its skin for new growth.  We had the opportunity to try Kundalini yoga years ago, and it was a spine-tingling and spirit opening experience, that always brings to mind yet again, the SNAKE!
